Begin with what's left over. Turn it into what will last.

Emeco began in 1944 with a single purpose: to create a chair strong enough to withstand life at sea for the U.S. Navy. The result was the now-iconic 1006 Navy Chair, hand-crafted in 77 steps from recycled aluminum.. durable, minimal, and built to last a lifetime.

Today, Emeco is a leader in sustainable furniture innovation, pioneering the transformation of industrial and consumer waste into timeless design. Starting with scrap aluminum, the company has expanded its materials palette to include recycled PET bottles (as in the 111 Navy Chair), reclaimed polypropylene and discarded wood (Broom Chair, with Philippe Starck), ocean plastic (On & On Chair, with Barber & Osgerby), recycled cork, eco-concrete, and reclaimed barn wood (SU Collection, with Nendo).

Each material is chosen not just for its environmental credentials, but for its ability to perform, endure, and age with grace. Emeco’s process is grounded in circular thinking; designing furniture that lasts, can be repaired, and eventually recycled into new products without loss of quality.

Collaborations with some of the world’s most respected designers: Philippe Starck, Jasper Morrison, Norman Foster, Frank Gehry, Nendo, and others—have helped Emeco expand its vision, while staying true to its original values: simplicity, resilience, and responsibility.

From its factory in Hanover, Pennsylvania to showrooms and architectural projects worldwide, Emeco continues to prove that what’s left over can become what lasts longest.
